Prescription Guidelines at Locust Grove Pediatrics

At Locust Grove Pediatrics, we are committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of your child. To provide the best care possible, we follow distinct guidelines for new prescriptions, refills, and ADD/ADHD medications. Below is an overview of our prescription policies.

New Prescriptions

In most cases, new medications or significant changes to your child’s current medications require an in-office visit with one of our physicians. This policy allows us to thoroughly evaluate your child’s condition and determine the most appropriate course of treatment.

  • What to Do: Schedule an appointment with Locust Grove Pediatrics for your child to be evaluated by a physician.
  • Why: This ensures that your child receives personalized care tailored to their needs.

Contact our office today to set up an appointment and discuss your child’s health needs.

Prescription Refills

We are happy to assist with prescription refills for ongoing treatments. In many cases, refills can be requested without the need for a follow-up visit.

  • How to Request: Call our office or use your pharmacy’s refill request system, and we will send the refill directly to your pharmacy.
  • When to Contact Us: Be sure to notify us several days before your prescription runs out to avoid interruptions in your child’s treatment.

ADD/ADHD Medication

Prescriptions for ADD/ADHD medications require additional steps to ensure proper compliance and monitoring:

  • Original Prescription Forms: These medications must be presented to the pharmacy in their original paper form, as required by law.
  • Monthly Refills: Each month, you must call our office to request a refill. Refills are not automatically renewed.
  • Parent/Guardian Responsibility: You will need to sign for the prescription at our office.
  • Periodic Evaluations: To continue medication, your child must be evaluated periodically by our physicians throughout the year. These check-ups allow us to monitor progress and adjust treatment if necessry
